How Americans spend on vacations

A great post by our friends at Visual Economics on the money Americans spend on vacations, where they are most likely to travel, and how we compare to other countries. The expected costs of a summer vacation range from $200 to $5,000. However,В 45% of Americans will spend under $2,500. Mexico is the #1 destination outside of the US, with Canada second.

• 10% of Americans say they will spend between $2,500 and $5,000 on their summer vacation
• 25% say they will spend between $1,000 and $2,500 on their summer vacation
• 20% say they will spend between $200 and $1,000 on a family summer vacation, and
• 15% say they are not planning a summer vacation
